In the weeks leading up to this past Sunday's Superbowl, I was keeping an eye on the controversy surrounding the Tim Tebow ad put together by James Dobson's Focus on the Family organization. I wasn't surprised by the opposition from some women's groups and left-leaning news outlets, since the ad was to have a pro-life message; after all, abortion rights are the holy grail of the left-wing. Sadly, I was also not surprised by the venom spewed against Mr. Tebow and his mother from people who had never met them. From calling Tebow's faith into question, to calling him a "Jesus Freak" as though that's something to be ashamed of, and accusing Pam Tebow of trying to tell other women what to do, the hate-filled abortionists who preach tolerance have none of it themselves.
Then I saw the ad; both versions of it. (There were two versions, the second was the only one shown.)
I must admit to being very surprised to see how mild and innocuous they both were. In fact, I openly wondered what all the fuss was about. The ads were so laid-back that some in the anti-abortion movement might even be offended at their lack of a more pointed message. (That's an argument I won't go near.) The point is, the left-wing abortion proponents came out of this looking like the biggest bunch of petty-minded losers to have ever graced the American political scene. To criticize these ads while demanding CBS not air one of them reveals the truth about the abortion agenda.
If they are so convinced that their position is the correct one and that the majority of Americans support their view, what on earth are they afraid of? Why attempt to silence an ad that simply shows what happened when a Christian mother decided to have her baby rather than abort him? Isn't the "pro-choice" movement about choice? The reaction by the left to this ad proves beyond doubt, at least in my mind, that the pro-choice movement isn't really about "choice" at all. It's about propping up the business and ideology of abortion at any cost.
One of the main tenets of tyrannical rule is that the truth must be squelched at all costs. Nazi Germany regulated speech, so did Communist Russia. Today countries like China, Cuba, Venezuela, Iran, Libya, Pakistan, the Sudan, and Liberia all restrict public speech severely. Dozens of other nations, including some of our allies, restrict speech to a lesser degree. Why? Because truth will always prevail if it is allowed to freely flow through a society. The abortion industry knows this all too well.
Back in the 70s, when the issue hit the fore-front of the American political landscape, abortion proponents were much more willing to refer to themselves as "pro-abortion". Yet with the advent of ultrasound and other technologies it became apparent that medical science was on the brink of proving the baby in the womb was indeed a living human being. Shifting gears to avoid the "life" issue, the abortion lobby changed it's approach to "pro-choice" vs. "anti-choice". Unfortunately for millions of unborn babies, we have allowed abortion supporters to set the terms of the debate.
Modern medical technology has come a long way since the early days of ultrasound, so much so that it is nearly impossible for pro-abortion activists to justify their position from the perspective of a human life existing in the womb. Instead, they claim that what's in the womb isn't a living human being unless the mother decides it is; another convenient "choice." They continue to preach the absurd notion of a "woman's right to choose" what to do with her own body while denying the rights of the unborn baby.
But medical technology doesn't lie....
Modern technology is so successful in proving the life in the womb, that crisis pregnancy centers who can afford such technology have an extremely high rate of preventing abortion. The technology is to the anti-abortion movement today what the placards showing a mutilated body were just twenty years ago. When a pregnant woman sees that the baby in her womb is a living human being, the chances of her carrying that child to term increase dramatically. And thus the need for the abortionists to silence the truth.
As laid-back as the Tebow ad might have been, the message was clear, powerful, and true. Pam's decision to carry her baby despite the medical risk provided the world with another human being who has the potential for great things. That message is maddening to abortionists who are faced with question of their own existence. What would the world be if their mothers had aborted them? For that matter, what if Jonas Salk, Susan B. Anthony, and Abe Lincoln had all been aborted? Even from this perspective abortion is completely indefensible.
The only solution for the abortionists is to silence the truth; to shut down anyone or any organization which attempts to tell the truth about human life. If that means they trash someone's reputation, destroy a career, shut down a business...no matter. Abortion must prevail to those who believe in it. And if they cannot succeed through the media, the abortionist will resort to the court system: preventing anti-abortion protests, sidewalk counseling services, and the like. What the heck, they'll even convince a judge to use the RICOH statues against those who oppose their position.
Pro-choice, you say?
Pam Tebow made her choice and wishes to tell others about it. She's no different than a woman who chooses abortion and then tells her story, except that Pam Tebow's message supports the truth. And the abortionists cannot handle the truth.
As we succumb to more and more political correctness, more and more limited speech, more and prosecution of the truth, we are also headed for ruin. When the day finally arrives that sees the government monitoring every thing we hear and say, Americans will be angry and disillusioned. But by then it will be too late. Today is the day to stand up and say, "No more political correctness, no more lies, no more denying reality." Today is the day to begin a relentless pursuit of the truth in every area of your life. At the end of the day it's the truth that makes us free.
